July 13, 2013, Carrying forward the commitment of the Abhyankar’s IAS Academy to provide a platform for holistic learning, the Second Lecture Series was organized on July 13, 2013. The Chief Guest, Shri. Sudhir Kumar Jha (I.R.S) and the ex- Chief Commissioner Income Tax (CCIT), Pune shared a glimpse of the opportunities in the Central Services by sighting numerous personal experiences during his long and distinguished career of over 30 odd years .
The Guest of Honour, Shri. S. Chockalingam, (I.A.S), currently posted as the Education Commissioner, with his vast experience in the field of e-governance coupled with his previous stint as Inspector General of Registration, Maharashtra where he spearheaded e-governance through the -‘I-SARITA’ model , provided the students with a detailed insight into the benefits of e-governance towards achieving the end goal of good governance.
Both the lectures were rich with experiences and anecdotes which successfully engaged the students. Shri. Chockalingam spoke favorably of e-governance stating that it is the future of good governance as it takes services closer to people. He asserted that monopolies breed corruption and models of e-governance seek to dismantle these monopolies and make the bureaucracy transparent and accountable. While speaking of the challenges of the same he spoke the need to create stakeholders and build ownership in order to overcome the hurdles.
Shri. Jha’s elucidation of the various opportunities available as well as existing structures within the Indian Revenue Service provided the students with an in-depth understanding of the Service.
